Playstation is the best 32-bit console out there (I'm considering Nintendo 64 a 32-bit. Don't argue.) It's got some excellent games which is why it's still going strong. Sure, other systems offer some good games, but PSX has got more good games. N64 has got what? Like four or five games that can be condidered classics? Let's see - there's Zelda, Golden Eye, Banjo Kazooie, Diddy Kong Racing, and Mario 64. Everything else is pretty average. With Playstation, the list never stops.
Another big deal with PSX, is that is got some really great RPGs. With Square developing only for Sony, how can they lose? Saturn had some pretty cool RPGs, but hardly any stores carry Saturn games now, so you're screwed if you've got a Saturn. N64 has no RPGs (Zelda was more action-adventure, and Quest 64? Are you kidding me?). This is a problem. Wtf are RPG fans who own an N64s gonna do? Not much, I guess. Maybe they'll have to get into a new genre of games....
Yeah, PSX is getting a bit old now, but it will always be cool. I still think Super Mario World (SNES) is an awsome game. There are some people who still like Atari and NES games. That just proves that old systems live on. I sure as hell now Playstation will.
